Execution Labs Welcomes Two Veteran-Laden Game Teams to the Fold
Montreal, CA – June 26, 2013 – Mobile gaming incubator and accelerator Execution Labs announced today that two new teams have recently joined its ranks. Both teams boast members with multiple years of experience in the game industry from studios and publishers such as Eidos, Ubisoft, and Funcom as well as seasoned independent game developers and artists.
Kitfox Games is an international team from Montreal that is creating a hardcore survival-exploration strategy game with a Star Wars aesthetic. CEO and lead designer Tanya Short, originally from California, spent the last five years at Funcom working on titles like The Secret World and Age of Conan. Greg Londish, an Australian, and Quebec native Mike Ditchburn handle the company’s programming. Multi-talented Xin Ran Liu, who grew up in China before moving to Montreal to study, handles all of Kitfox’s art needs.
Jonathan “Rax” Gauvin, Pierre-Olivier “Poc” Clement, and Tiego Francois-Brosseau focus on the design and programming for Silver Dice. Collectively they represent over three decades of experience developing AAA franchises such as Tomb Raider, Thief, Splinter Cell, Rayman, and Assassin’s Creed. Joining them are Eric Lahaie and Charles-Etienne Gouin, whose art styles bring a unique blend of sci-fi, fantasy, and cyberpunk to the project. Their first game is a tribute to traditional pen-and-paper RPGs delivered in a fresh, accessible tablet format. The game features tactical turn-based combat set in a high tech-fantasy world.
Jason Della Rocca, co-founder of Execution Labs, added “We are thrilled with the level of talent present in the last batch of applications to the program. When you look at Silver Dice and Kitfox, you see heavy hitters with tons of experience in game development. That these kinds of talented devs are making the leap to indie game development is indicative of some major shifts in the industry away from large studios and towards nimble, creative development on mobile platforms.”
Execution Labs will open applications for its second cohort later this summer.
