Execution Evolved – Introducing Our New Funding Model
If you subscribe to our newsletter, or had a chat with us at GDC, you would know that we’ve made a few changes around the Labs. To find the best possible way to support independent game studios, we have introduced changes to our funding model that will usher in a new way of financing and producing games.
We saw some great press coverage about our announcement in the leadup to GDC, including a detailed look in Venturebeat and a writeup in GamesIndustry.biz.
What does this all mean?
This continued evolution means being able to provide more capital to give studios more runway and more options. It means doing custom deals based on the specific needs of studios rather than trying to fit everyone into a template that may not be ideal for each studio. And it means doing fewer investments so we can continue to provide the hands-on, in-the-trenches support to both new and existing portfolio members that we pride ourselves on. While we won’t see new cohorts of studios coming to Montreal every six months the way we’ve become accustomed to, key members of various far-flung studios will still be spending time for some extra hands-on development. Watch this space for updates as we announce new members of the Execution Labs family!
